He chose the same shirt that he wore for his kindergarten assessment the week before. I guess it is his favorite.
Arriving at his classroom.
Answering the question of the day. (Are you walking home today or riding in a car? He put his clothespin on the side for "riding in a car.")
Sitting on the carpet. Cold-hearted mother that I am, I didn't even feel close to shedding a tear over my last child starting kindergarten. Maybe part of that was due to the fact that I had a 4-month-old and a 1-year-old waiting back at home (my daycare kids) so it's not as if I was going home to an empty house. I HAVE shed tears over the thought that it will be 13 more years before I'm done helping my kids make their way through the public school system. Maybe if things were going in a smoother fashion for some of the older ones... Here's hoping Atom's experience is much better than some of my other kiddos.
BYU football started on Saturday with a home game against Washington. Niles and I went to that together and it was a good game, especially since we managed to win. (23-17) Our defense miraculously kept their opponent from scoring the entire second half which is what saved us since we missed a lot of opportunities to score. We got a photo of us together on Nile's new cell phone (for his new job) so maybe I can get him to put it on here later.
Everyone had Monday off for Labor Day (including me from daycare kids!) so we decided to go to Lagoon. We were afraid it would be really crowded (especially since there was a deal on the ticket price that day as well as being a holiday) but fortune smiled upon us and it wasn't any more crowded than average. The temperature was also perfect--in the 70's (O.K., so I got a bit chilly at times!) Niles and Minnie, Jumble is on the row behind them.

We got there when the park opened and stayed until it closed. Two of my favorite rides this time were the Samurai and the Spider. I had never been on them before--they are fairly new and they were both closed the last time we went. Jumble is still the only one brave enough to try Wicked (she loves it!) but everyone tried some new and daring rides for them. I rode Colossus Fire Dragon again for the first time since I was a teenager and found to my surprise that I didn't mind the drop at the beginning too much. Maybe I'm getting better at drops. We are very glad we were able to go. It was a fun day for everyone. Niles started his new job on Tuesday and we're about to get sucked into marching band competition season.

Colossus Fire Dragon...is that the one that goes upside down? I used to LOVE that ride (in spite of the big drop)! I couldn't wait to try an upside down roller coaster when we went to Hershey Park 5 or 6 years ago, but then I hated it! Old age is not making me more adventurous, I guess!
Yes, two loops right after the big drop. We used to go on it repeatedly together. I was thinking we should go to an amusement park together--just the two of us--sometime before we get too old because we like all the same things.
We went to Lagoon when we dropped Landon off this summer. My kids loved wicked but there was no way I was going to try it. I hate rides like that.
glad Lagoon turned out well!
