This is son #2 the day after the BYU football spring scrimmage game. Well, the photo doesn't show it too well, but his face got really burned. He looked like a fried lobster for a few days and then he peeled. Ooops! I hate it when we do stupid things like forget sunscreen. It's hard to think about sunscreen when it is still so chilly outside. But has eleven years in Arizona taught us nothing about the sun? You would think we would have had burns on our mind, because this was our son's second burn in less than 24 hours. The night before the spring game, we had the fireplace in the basement on (see, it was still chilly!) and this little guy was running around, tripped, and stopped his fall by his left palm landing squarely on the front of the fireplace glass--which was very hot. He suffered a second-degree burn on his hand. We can still see where the blisters are healing--three weeks later. Poor little guy! He was pretty traumatized. This was right at bedtime and we were up for about three more hours soaking his hand in cold water until he fell asleep. Thank goodness once he fell asleep, he slept hard all night and didn't seem to be bothered much by it the next day. He still talks about it, though. "I burned my hand on the fireplace. It was very hot!"
