Uncle Fred

Uncle Fred, Uncle Lee, Mom (Jo Ann), and Uncle Bruce celebrating the 100th anniversary of their father's birth (Frederick Granger Johnson Sr.) Taken November 26, 2005 in Mesa, AZ.

It's been a little (a lot) busy lately, so I haven't mentioned this before, but my Uncle Fred passed away on August 6th. My Uncle Fred is the oldest of six children, my mom's oldest brother. He turned 80 years old on May 6th of this year. He bravely fought lung cancer over the past few years. I got to see him quite a bit back when we lived in Arizona, and I am grateful for that.

I have always enjoyed the opportunities to visit with him and with Aunt Marjie. I am grateful to him for his example and his love. We loved some of the same things--family records, accounting, and of course, the gospel of Jesus Christ. I will miss talking with him. It's hard to believe he is gone, but I know I will see him again someday. I am happy for him, somewhat envious, actually, of where he is now and who he gets to be with. Thanks for being such a great uncle. I love you!

Those are great photos--I loved seeing them! I didn't get to talk to Uncle Fred as much as you did; I wish I had, but I guess that's what the next life will be for!
